Clothing labels are of different kinds and based on their intended use, they can either be categorized as content labels, care labels, size labels or brand CBF Labels. Depending with their intended purpose, clothing labels are placed in different parts of the cloth. For example, clothing labels that are size indicative are normally placed on the inside back of a cloth, those with wash care instructions can normally be found inside but side of the cloth, while the ones that are used for branding will normally be placed outside the cloth so as to advertise the brand or the cloth’s manufacturer.

Just like it is suggested in their name, clothing labels are meant to ‘label’ the garment so as to provide the necessary information to the intended client and are used both by designers of big clothing industries as well as those stitching their cloths at home. The following are the purposes for labeling a cloth that are served by clothing labels: Size of the Garment: Ordinarily cloths are labeled so as to specify their size i.e. if the cloth is either small, medium, large or extra-large; and in case of kids clothing, indicate the age group of the cloth. Fabric Material: Clothing labels are used to indicate the fabric material that has been used to produce the cloth in question; whether the fabric is wool, silk, cotton or made from synthetic material like polyester or nylon.

Branding: It is on the clothing label that you are able to find the brand of the cloth or the details of the manufacturer. Instructions for Wash and Care: Clothing labels are used to indicate the instructions that should be followed when washing and generally handling the garment. These instructions are meant to direct the buyer if it is suitable to bleach the cloth or not, whether the cloth can be machine washed or hand washed only, should the cloth be tumble dried only or can it be machine dried too, and what the right temperatures are for either washing or ironing the cloth.
